NewsXL processes the following categories of personal data: account data (name, email address, username, hashed password), payment and billing data (country, VAT number for business customers, transaction data via the payment provider), technical data (IP address, ports/servers used, data traffic volume, connection timestamps), and communications data (emails and support tickets). We do not monitor or store the content of Usenet articles you download or post.
We process personal data to deliver the Service and manage your account, to handle payments and issue invoices, to detect and prevent misuse and security incidents, to comply with legal obligations, and to inform you about service updates and — with your consent — commercial messages.
Processing is based on the performance of the Agreement (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), compliance with legal obligations (subsection c), our legitimate interest in fraud prevention, network security and service improvement (subsection f), and — where required — your consent (subsection a), which you can withdraw at any time.
NewsXL uses processors for hosting, payment services, email delivery and customer support. Data processing agreements are in place with these parties. We do not sell your data. Data is disclosed to authorities only where required by law.
Account data is retained for as long as your subscription is active and for up to 12 months thereafter for administrative purposes. Tax and accounting data is retained for the statutory period of 7 years. Connection metadata is retained no longer than strictly necessary for security and troubleshooting.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), hashed password storage, least-privilege access controls, and regular security reviews.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing. Requests can be submitted to [email protected]. We respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Our website uses functional cookies for login and session management and — only with your consent — analytical cookies to improve the website. You can adjust cookie preferences at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings.
Our infrastructure is located within the European Economic Area. If a processor processes data outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission.
